NOTE: You do not need to download any of the kanji or compound databases files for use in the free Demo Version. A subset of each file is included with the installation for trial purposes.
Download the current versions of the kanji and compound databases
NOTE! - The easiest way to update the kanji and compound databases that are used by LexiKAN 2.0 is to use the "Update Databases" command in the program (version 2.10 and later). The program will quickly check this website for the latest available versions and allow you to download any that have been updated. See the help system or instruction manual for more information.
If you would like to manually download the most current kanji and compound databases (or if you are using version 2.09 or earlier), follow the instructions below.
To download any or all of the database files below:
* contains all 1,945 Jouyou kanji; only useful if you are using the full version of LexiKAN 2.0 ** if you are downloading the edict_sjis.txt file, remember to also download and save the accompanying edictabbrev.txt file.

JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) Flashcard Files
These LexiKAN flashcard files were created using the LexiKAN Flashcard Builder. The level/kyuu classification of the characters is current through LexiKAN kanji database 2.006. JLPT Levels 1 and 2 contain additional kanji that are not yet included in the LexiKAN kanji database but will be added soon.
Note that these classifications are based on the most current available sources for JLPT material, and that the actual test content for any level may differ from that shown here.
Note: These files cannot be read independently - they require the working version of LexiKAN 2.0.

Files based on Kanji Reference Books
Below is a table of links to zipped LexiKAN data files containing Word Groups and flashcards for ten popular kanji reference dictionaries. More detailed bibliographic information on these sources is contained in the LexiKAN help system. The first column contains zipped files with kanji flashcards arranged in the order presented in the respective reference book. The last column contains zipped files with the same kanji cards, but with the addition of common Japanese compound flashcards derived from the EDICT file for each Word Group of kanji. All of these flashcard files can be created instantly using the Flashcard Builder tool in the full version of LexiKAN 2.0 (with EDICT installed).
* common compounds are denoted in the EDICT file with a (P)
Files based on Jouyou Kanji Grades 1-8 (using official 1989 list)
The next table contains links to LexiKAN data files (some zipped) containing Word Groups and flashcards based on kanji grade level. The first column contains files with kanji flashcards for all kanji in that grade level. The second column contains files with the same kanji cards, but with the addition of common Japanese compound flashcards derived from the EDICT file for only that grade level. The last column links to files which also contain common compounds including kanji from the previous grade levels (i.e. grades 1-3 for the kanji in grade 3). All of these flashcard files can be created instantly using the Flashcard Builder tool in the full version of LexiKAN 2.0 (with EDICT installed).
* common compounds are denoted in the EDICT file with a (P)
