MS Mincho Font

To display Japanese characters correctly with most features of LexiKAN, it is necessary that your computer have a compatible Japanese font installed.   The program works best with the "MS Mincho" font which is distributed with Microsoft Office products and with newer Windows operating systems.  Instructions on how to install this font from these products or how to locate it on the web are listed below.

Japanese Fonts On the web

Here are couple of current sites from which you can download the MS Mincho font:

http://www.geocities.com/fontboard/cjk/cjksupp.html

http://www.themeworld.com/fonts/foreign.shtml

(NOTE - LexiKAN is not responsible for the content of these sites)

The best location on the web for all Japanese computing resources is Jim Breen's site at:

http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/japanese.html

If you cannot install the Japanese font from your Window or Office software and the above sites have not helped, a search for "MS Mincho + download" should turn up other locations on the world-wide-web where this font can be downloaded.  The font itself, a TrueType font called "msmincho.ttf", may be downloaded or certain executable files from the Office products, namely "JPNSUPP.EXE", may be used.  Instructions on installing the " .ttf " TrueType font are listed below, while the executable file will automatically install the font on your machine when run.
